The pH in a dog's stomach (when it is fed raw food) drops down to a level between 1 and 2.

Most bacteria and other micro-organisms get killed when pH drops below 3-4.

This is one strong reason why dogs do not get sick when eating carrion that would cause serious health problems for a human, whose stomach generally works at a much higher pH level, closer to neutral...
