Dogs do not have sweat glands in their coat, as humans have in the skin. But they have fat glands at the root of all hair follices - and those glands constantly supply a cleaning grease from the the root of the hairs. This grease also makes the coat water repellant, so the dog can stay warm, also in wet weather. When you shampoo the dog, you remove all that grease - and the result is that all chemical and biological balances in the skin get destroyed and cause all kinds of skin problems to develop... |
